Director of gardening at an iconic luxury resort in Marbella

We are looking for a Director of gardening at an iconic luxury resort in Marbella.

Main Objective:
Supervise, plan, and execute the maintenance of the hotel’s green areas and gardens, ensuring an aesthetically pleasing, safe, and enjoyable environment for guests, in line with the quality standards of a 5-star hotel.

Responsibilities:

1. Planning and Supervision:
• Design and plan the layout and design of gardens, green areas, and outdoor spaces, in coordination with hotel management.
• Supervise the gardening team, assigning daily tasks and managing work schedules to ensure task completion.
• Develop preventive and corrective maintenance plans for all garden areas, including irrigation, pruning, fertilization, and pest control.

2. Garden and Green Area Maintenance:
• Perform and coordinate pruning, mowing, watering, fertilization, and the planting of trees, shrubs, flowers, and grass.
• Ensure that all plants and lawns are in optimal condition, maintaining a well-groomed and attractive appearance for guests.
• Control the use of plant protection products, respecting environmental and safety regulations.

3. Personnel and Resource Management:
• Coordinate and train the gardening team, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge to perform tasks efficiently.
• Manage the purchase and stock of gardening materials, such as tools, fertilizers, plants, and chemicals.
• Monitor and manage the budget allocated to green areas, optimizing resources without compromising service quality.

4. Collaboration with Other Departments:
• Collaborate with the maintenance department and other hotel departments to ensure proper integration of gardens with hotel facilities.
• Support in the decoration of events and special activities that require the use of plants and natural elements.

5. Quality Standards Compliance:
• Ensure that the design and maintenance of the gardens meet the quality and luxury standards of a 5-star hotel.
• Regularly inspect garden areas to ensure the cleanliness, order, and aesthetics of the environment.
• Identify potential improvements in the green areas and propose renovation or beautification projects for the gardens.

Requisitos

• Training in Gardening, Landscaping, Agronomy, or similar fields.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in garden management, preferably in luxury hotels or resorts.
• Knowledge of automatic irrigation systems, pruning techniques, fertilization, and pest management.
• Ability to lead teams and coordinate work efficiently.
• Ability to work under pressure and solve problems quickly and effectively.
• Aesthetic sensitivity and attention to detail to maintain an impeccable appearance of green spaces.
• Flexible schedule and availability to work weekends and holidays according to the hotel’s needs.
